Dear Community Members,
Once again the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is pleased to announce its Annual Scholarship for African American Male high school students (Only Utah high school college-bound seniors and currently enrolled college students who are Utah residents) for 2019–2020. This scholarship is conducted on an annual basis in conjunction with our National Achievement Week Observance. Iota Iota Iota (Tri Iota) Chapter will select a winner from the pool of applicants and award two $1,000 scholarships for one high school senior student. The winner is expected to attend our National Achievement Week Awards Ceremony on November 16th.
As a way to originally promote the study of “Negro life and history,” Achievement Week is observed in November of each year by Omega Men around the world and it is designed to seek out and give due recognition to those individuals at the local and international levels who have made a noteworthy contribution toward improving the quality of life for Black Americans. We also hold a High School Essay Contest in conjunction with Achievement Week. This contest is open to ALL college-bound high school seniors attending a high school in Utah. College book scholarships are awarded to the winners, each of whom must submit an essay on a theme/topic chosen by the Fraternity. This contest is a phase of the International Achievement Week observance.
During Achievement Week Awards Dinner, we will also honor the Citizen of the Year, Father of the Year, Educator of the Year, Business of the Year, Philanthropist of the Year, Organization of the Year, Colonel Charles Young Military Leadership Award, Superior Service Award, Basileus Special Recognition Awardees, and the OMEGA MAN of the Year Award.
Please help us distribute this information as widely as possible so that we can reach as many deserving students as we can. Additionally, if you appreciate what we are trying to do for the community, please consider attending our Achievement Awards ceremony in November. On-line donations on our website. Any additional proceeds from this program will go to support our mentoring program and scholarships for 2019-2020.
